How the ScratchCanada Score works

The ScratchCanada Score is a 0-100 informational metric. It compares publicly available scratch-ticket statistics using a fixed formula.

The ScratchCanada Score compares published game statistics. It cannot predict whether an individual ticket will win.

Factors and weights

  • Published overall odds (30%) — lower "1 in X" values score higher.
  • Top-prize depletion (35%) — the percentage of top-tier prizes still unclaimed according to available data.
  • Top prize per dollar (20%) — top prize divided by ticket price, on a log scale.
  • Price accessibility (15%) — a small boost for lower-priced tickets.

What it does not do

The score does not model expected value, does not predict individual outcomes, and does not recommend which ticket to buy. It is a comparison aid based on published information.
